Joseph changed his last name
between 1872 and 1899, a deduction based on census information. According
to cousin Dave, it has been established that in 1907 there were over 47
people living in the Canadian Sault Ste Marie vicinity named Joseph Boissonneau
or Bussineau. The reason for the name change was to help improve the reliability
of Canadian postal delivery. My great grandfather must have been a pragmatic
man, he couldn't fix the postal system, make his cousins change their
name, so he changed his.
