Marguerite Boissineau was the third known child of Joseph Boissineau and Marie Louise Ross, nie Boyer. She was born on the North Bank of the St Marys River in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. On the 24 Aug 1864, when she was 18 years old, she married Maurice Mercier dit Morris Ford (born 1836, Chateauguay, Quebec), in Marquette, Michigan. It is assumed family members migrated to Marquette when iron ore was discovered in that area. Marguerite and Maurice stayed in Marquette for at least 10 years. When Maurice became a U S. Citizen in 1888, he was unable to speak English, so the immigration authorities changed his name to Morris Ford, so that it would be easier to speak and write in English. In 1891 Morris Ford obtained a U.S. land grant; an Indian census taken in 1891, finds them living on Sugar Island, back in the Sault Ste Marie, Michigan area. Maurices occupation was listed as farmer. Marguerite Boissineau and Maurice Mercier had twelve known children:
